Designed for the next seven generations
In collaboration with Lyle Thompson, Lauren Schad and Kyrie Irving, the Nike By You design team developed this Summer 2021 collection around the concept of what it means to be visibly indigenous. The collection was rooted in the artistic traditions that come from the lands these professional athletes, who hail from the Onondaga Nation to the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The natural beauty of the earth served as the original inspiration for the ancestral artwork and regalia significant to each athlete’s Tribal Nation. Inspired by the colors and materials of these elemental forces, from purple wampum shells to colorful porcupine quills, the collection honors and embodies the values, stories, and diversity of Indigenous traditions and craft. The collection included three footwear models; the Dunk Low, Zoom Type and Kyrie 4 Low, and an apparel collection.
